After releasing our label's first tape (House, Disco, Boogie, and Other Oddities) late last summer, we here at Easy Bay honestly thought it would be a little, well, easier to get one or two more tapes under our belt by now. But alas, the confounding election of the tangerine tyrant and the still incomprehensibly tragic Ghostship fire rattled us and our community, setting us a bit back. Still, the Easy Bay crew remains as passionate as ever about bringing fun and creative bits of dance music into the world, and so as we continue to plot out our upcoming cassette releases (we have some good ones on the way, we promise), we've decided to get the music flowing again with the launch of the Easy Bay Digital Singles series.
Starting us off is Knoxville's Persona La Ave (a.k.a. the talented Dylan Dawkins), who delivers two bubbly tracks that push the tempo up a bit higher than his usual brand of soupy, computer-rendered funk (if you're unfamiliar, we suggest you check out his recent record for Astro Nautico, Drift). Serving as the virtual A-side here is "Gloria Miami," a breezy number that emphatically nods to the tropical rhythms of Caribbean disco and, not so subtly, the work of groups like Miami Sound Machine. On the digital flipside is "Gimme An A," an at-first driving but then splendidly woozy disco affair.
"Gloria Miami" b/w "Gimme An A" is the first of many to come from the Easy Bay Digital Singles series, so stay tuned for much more free music in the weeks and months ahead!

Just discovered Sam Wilkes and some of his work and bass playing, and arrived to this record. It reminds me a lot to John Hassell/Eno era a bit more jazzy, and all the ambient music from the 80’s. I love it! Santi Umbert
